Korfil Hi-R CMU
Grand Blanc Cement Products is a licensed manufacturer of Korfil Hi-R Masonry Wall Systems. Hi-R is a specially designed and engineered concrete masonry unit with individually molded insulation inserts. Walls constructed with Hi-R CMU’s are capable of achieving higher thermal R values than conventional masonry without compromising the structural strength and integrity of the wall.
The Hi-R Wall System can also provide very consistent insulation values while at the same time allowing excess moisture to escape. In addition to the many beneficial characteristics of Hi-R block, the sound resistance is also improved slightly, and there are no concerns regarding shrinkage, toxic fumes, or odors. Hi-R CMU’s can be used above or below grade, and the installation of pipes, conduits, etc. are easily accomplished because of their unique design. Hi-R Masonry Wall Systems can also help improve the ability for the CMU’s to resist wind-driven rain.
Since the insulation inserts are installed in the concrete masonry unit at the factory, the Hi-R Wall System reduces job site labor costs that are commonly seen with other types of CMU insulation materials. Also, the factory-installed inserts do not affect the handling of the block on site and require no additional labor. Another advantage of using Hi-R Wall Systems is that the block itself can be used as a bond-beam or lintel block which can eliminate the need to have several different types of block manufactured and delivered to the job site.
Hi-R Masonry Wall Systems can be manufactured in several different architectural finishes (Burnished, Split Face, and Smooth Face). All Architectural Hi-R CMU’s are manufactured as normal weight units.
