McNamara Terminal – Detroit, Michigan
McNamara Terminal – Detroit, Michigan
When the Detroit Metropolitan Airport needed to expand its capacity, plans for a second terminal were quickly put in motion. The McNamara Terminal spans a magnificent one mile in length and was constructed with 1.2 million lightweight block manufactured and delivered by Grand Blanc Cement Products. When the original masonry package was extremely over-budget and troublesome to the developers, alternate methods of cutting costs were immediately brought to the table. The implementation of Grand Blanc’s “Smartwall” was exactly what the project needed; this true lightweight block was an economical solution to the problem and it also exceeded ASTM specifications set forth within the project. With the ability to manufacture within 60 miles of the site and deliver multiple truck-loads of material each day, Grand Blanc Cement Products helped get the McNamara Terminal off the ground with very little turbulence. Now home to all Delta flights, this beautiful state-of-the-art terminal services over 35 million passengers every year.
